ZZ Top collaborate with David Guetta

ZZ Top celebrate their 45th year as a band this year, commemorating it with a brand new compilation album ‘The Very Baddest of ZZ Top’.

The Texas trio have recently finished a triumphant 15-date European tour. During a post-tour visit to Ibiza, guitarist Billy Gibbons teamed up with DJ/Producer David Guetta.

Gibbons told Billboard magazine about the collaboration: “They said, ‘Y’know, the only thing missing in dance music is a good guitar player.’ I said, ‘Let’s see if we can bring the two together and make it shake.’” That resulted in “eight or 10 cuts that, by and large, I would consider completed.”

“It’s a far cry from what people might expect — ‘Gibbons and electronic stuff?'” Gibbons added. “But a lot of people have overlooked the fact that one of the things that made (ZZ Top’s) ‘Eliminator’ so interesting was the opportunity to go into that experimental side of things. I’m always fascinated by that, so my time in Spain was very fruitful.”

ZZ Top are currently touring America with Jeff Beck, before they head back to the studio, with plans to work with Rick Rubin completing some unfinished new material. Watch this space.
