Richard Ashcroft releases new album, “These People” today

Former The Verve frontman, Richard Ashcroft releases his fifth solo album These People today.

The album sees Richard working again with Urban Hymns strings arranger Wil Malone, and has a sound the singer described to The Guardian as “ancient and modern” at the same time.

These People talks about “personal and world events [taking] a dark turn leading to a sense of urgency and clearing of the mind”. Ashcroft adds to NME: “Over the period I wrote this we’ve lived through incredible times. We’re in a very nihilistic age, we’re in death-ridden, world war times and I like to reflect the society we’re in but I also wanna possibly project something that gives us a sense of hope.”

In the run up to the release, Ashcroft played intimate sold-out shows in Manchester and London and he plays Glasgow May 27th.

Tour dates in the UK and Europe continue over the summer, including a special guest appearance on Saturday June 11th at the Isle of Wight Festival.
