Adele wins third Ivor Novello Award 2016

Congratulations to Adele who was named Songwriter of the Year at the prestigious Ivor Novello Awards last night (19th of May) in central London. Now in its 61st year, the Ivors honour excellence in British songwriting.

Adele was honoured for her multi-million selling third album, 25, which was released late last year. This is her third Ivor Novello award; in 2012 she won awards for Music Most Performed Work for ‘Rolling In The Deep’, and also Songwriter of the Year.

The singer-songwriter, who is currently in the middle of her continental European tour, gave thanks in a video message played for guests at the Grovesnor House Hotel.

“I won it on my last album as well… but I was secretly pregnant, so I didn’t enjoy the night too well.” “To win it this time is truly, truly humbling.”

The statuette was presented by host Paul Gambaccini to her manager Jonathan Dickins.

Forthcoming Adele tour dates, including Glastonbury Festival can be found here.
