Many congratulations to Ward Thomas, whose second album, Cartwheels has entered the Official UK Abum Charts straight in at Number One, the first ever British country artist to claim the top spot in UK chart history!
British 22-year old twin sisters Catherine and Lizzy Ward from rural Hampshire released their debut album From Where We Stand in 2014, which peaked at Number 41 on the Official UK Album Chart, although it reached Number 1 on the UK Country Chart and was crowned ‘Album of the Year’ at the British Country Music Awards. The self-penned album represents a new sound for Ward Thomas as they move in a country-pop direction.
Emerging on the scene in January of 2016, Klangstof (fronted by Norwegian artist Koen van de Wardt) have quickly caught attention, gaining the acclaim of the likes of Annie Mac, Zane Lowe, NME, The FADER and more. The five-piece Netherlands-based band’s second single, ‘We Are Your Receiver‘, released in July, is a euphoric stadium-ready track which Consequence Of Sound dubbed “as lush as rainforests”.
The award was presented last night (6th September) in London at the sixth annual ceremony, although Adele wasn’t there to collect the award as she’s currently touring the States.
October Drift will be hitting the road on their ‘This Is Nowhere’ tour in October 2016, starting at Portsmouth’s Southsea Fest on October 1st and finishing at Sheffield’s The Plug on the 22nd.
The tour will celebrate the release of the Somerset band’s new ‘This Is Nowhere’ EP, released Friday October 7th on Bad Rival Records.
